As AI technology gradually penetrates various office scenarios, Zoom announced the expansion of its AI Companion function and launched the "Custom AI Companion" additional service with agent-based intelligence capabilities. It emphasizes a more flexible integration approach to help enterprises and individual users break down application barriers and improve daily work efficiency.
One of the biggest highlights of this update is support for 16 popular third-party business applications, including ServiceNow, Jira, Asana, and Box. This allows users to coordinate projects, organize documents, and track tasks directly within the Zoom environment, eliminating the need to frequently switch between windows or platforms. Furthermore, the Custom AI Companion feature now supports cross-platform operation, expanding to conferencing services like Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, with support for Cisco Webex expected to be added in the future.
AI agent function liberates meeting and administrative processes
Zoom said that AI Companion can now automatically help users organize meeting records, capture key points of conversations, and instantly update CRM, project management tools or document platforms based on the meeting content, making sales, customer service, project management and other scenarios more efficient.
For example, when AI Companion integrates with Jira or Asana, teams can instantly update task progress, assign work, and quickly set deadlines during meetings, saving time on traditional manual cross-system operations. Furthermore, by integrating with document platforms like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, and Notion, AI Companion can instantly access meeting materials and create or update relevant documents based on the content.
In addition, through integration with Workday, AI Companion can also help simplify a company's human resources operations, including job vacancy summaries, applicant information screening, and onboarding process arrangements, thereby improving recruitment efficiency.
Customize avatars and summary templates to meet diverse needs
Zoom also offers 11 meeting summary templates tailored to different industries and meeting needs, including those for education, consulting, and project management. Users can quickly generate summary reports tailored to tone, structure, and objectives. With Zoom Clips, users can also create their own avatars, with AI automatically generating personalized teaching or presentation videos. These videos support multilingual communication, expanding their application to teaching, marketing, and internal training.
In terms of physical meetings, Zoom currently supports voice recording, automatic summarization, and to-do list organization functions, which can retain complete records even without video conferencing and improve post-meeting collaboration efficiency.
Expand basic functional applications without additional cost
While Custom AI Companion requires a fee (US$12 per user per month), Zoom also announced that several core AI Companion features are now fully available to all paid Zoom Workplace users at no additional cost. These include live Q&A in calls, chatroom text summarization, transcript integration, meeting agenda generation, and cross-platform summary sharing (including support for Microsoft Teams).
Zoom's Chief Product Officer Smita Hashim said that through the agent-based AI Companion, Zoom will no longer be just a single conferencing tool, but will become an intelligent collaboration platform across various work scenarios, helping users save time and focus on value creation.
