Zoom unveiled the new AI Companion 2025 at this year's annual user conference, Zoomtopia 3.0, and fully integrated agent-based AI capabilities into Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services. The goal is to make team communication more efficient and collaboration processes smarter, further helping businesses and users transform every interaction into meaningful actions and results.
Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan said that the core of AI Companion 3.0 is to understand the user's context, goals and priorities, actively help users filter out noise, focus on the most important matters, and use agent-based AI to convert scattered information in meetings, chats, emails and documents into tasks that can be executed immediately.
New work interface and context-aware search
AI Companion 3.0 is presented in a brand new work interface for Zoom desktop and browser versions of application services. It can dynamically adjust the displayed content according to needs and can also combine context-aware search functions to integrate corporate knowledge, chat history, meeting transcripts and external market insights to help users grasp key information in real time.
In addition, the new AI note-taking function can be used across conference platforms, including Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. In the future, it will also support WebEx and even be applied to physical meetings, further reducing the burden of recording and organizing.
Zoom has also added several new agent-based AI features, such as "Free Up My Time", meeting preparation suggestions, group collaboration support, and real-time reminders, ensuring that the right information is delivered to the right users at the right time, helping them complete their work more efficiently.
Custom AI Companion and Open Collaboration
For businesses that require a high degree of customization, Zoom has also launched the Custom AI Companion feature, which allows managers to create exclusive AI agents for employees through low-code tools, and supports third-party agent integration and cross-platform collaboration (A2A agreement), which can create more tailored automation solutions for different departments. This feature is currently available as an additional license at a price of US$12 per user per month.
Improve customer experience and sales processes
Zoom Business Services also launched several CX (Customer Experience) innovations. These include Agentic AI Expert Assist, which automates customer service tasks; CX Insights, which unlocks actionable insights from customer interactions; and Automated Quality Management, which extends quality control to virtual agents. Zoom Virtual Agent now includes a "Bring Your Own Voice" feature to help brands create a consistent conversational experience.
In addition, Zoom Revenue Accelerator also integrates agent-based AI for lead generation, follow-up tracking, and scheduling. It can automatically identify high-potential lists and contact them through multiple channels, allowing sales teams to focus on high-value interactions.
Officially launched in September this year
AI Companion 3.0 will be officially launched in November this year. Paid users of Zoom Workplace can use basic functions for free, further consolidating Zoom's market position as an AI-driven collaboration platform.
