Zoom announced that Zoom Clips, which allows users to record, edit, and share videos, will be available to users worldwide starting today, allowing more people to communicate asynchronously with collaborators in different locations via video.
“The way we use video is constantly changing. Collaboration and communication across teams have become more important than ever before, and users expect to be able to share live or pre-recorded videos and easily view and save them,” said John Beckmann, Product Group Manager at Zoom. “Zoom Clips helps teams communicate across time zones, saving valuable time. Additionally, team members can centrally store and manage all video clips, helping to optimize asynchronous communication across teams.”
Users can use Zoom Clips to record meetings and shared screens, and set viewing permissions when sharing videos with others.
All videos will be stored in the user's centralized content management system, making it easier for users to search and explore, and enhancing team participation.
In addition, team members can leave comments on the video, and the user who created the video can also track the number of views of the video.
Greg Karp-Neufeld, Director of Corporate IT at Front, shared, "Fluid communication and collaboration are core to Front's products and culture. Zoom Clips allows our team to easily connect with each other and clients regardless of geography or time zones, expanding information sharing and enabling clearer and more precise communication."
In addition to Zoom Clips, employees can also leverage other powerful asynchronous communication tools in the Zoom platform, such as Zoom Team Chat's video and audio messaging, voice messaging, and reminders, or Zoom Meetings' continuous meeting chat rooms, Zoom Scheduler, Zoom Email, and Zoom Whiteboard for further flexible collaboration.
Zoom Clips features include:
• Recording: Users can easily record videos on the Zoom web version, from the desktop menu, and within the Zoom app. In addition to recording the screen, users can also use their computer camera to simultaneously record their voice. This feature provides virtual background and noise reduction to enhance image quality.
• Edit: To make file searching easier, users can freely edit the video file name, description, and tags. Users can also trim or remove unnecessary clips from the video and add video thumbnails.
• Sharing: Users can set viewing permissions and share the generated video with others through the Zoom platform and external channels. The video creator can also view analytical data and leave comments.
• Interaction: In addition to increasing interaction by leaving comments or sending emojis, users can also easily and securely manage, share, rename, download, and delete videos in the database, and search for videos by title or tag.
Currently, Zoom One paid account users can use the Zoom Clips Plus feature at no additional charge, while Zoom One Basic users and other general users can use the basic Zoom Clips feature and record up to 5 videos, with a maximum time limit of 2 minutes for each video.
Starting in December of this year, Zoom users will be able to purchase the Zoom Clips Plus service for $12 per month, removing the restrictions on the number and length of video recordings. However, Zoom Clips is not yet available to Zoom United account users.
