YouTube announced earlier that it will take effect on August 8 this year.new policy, in order to combat the content of fake and famous YouTube channels, avoid affecting the rights and interests of content creators, brands, etc., and even reduce the situation where those with ulterior motives can obtain improper benefits from this.
Although YouTube has always used methods such as Content ID to identify whether uploaded video content involves copyright, plagiarism and other issues, there are always people who find ways to exploit loopholes and imitate more famous YouTube channels. They increase their "credibility" by uploading the same video content and descriptions, and even pretending to be creators or brands to interact with netizens.
Usually, such cases are mostly for the purpose of gaining more viewing traffic and then monetizing it through YouTube advertising, or by imitating well-known YouTube channels to increase the number of viewers of their accounts, or even using the accounts for malicious purposes, such as spreading false information, fraud, etc.
In order to reduce such incidents, YouTube will implement a new policy effective August 8st, which will begin to crack down on impersonating other people's YouTube accounts. It will even prohibit uploading content identical to that of creators and brands, and prohibit making channel content extremely similar to that of other people's channels. It is also prohibited to imitate existing news channels or impersonate others to reply to video comments, thereby reducing the possibility of ordinary users being misled by fake content.
