At a launch event for creators, YouTube officially unveiled a series of new features, most of which are closely related to AI applications. The goal is to make content production more intuitive and faster, and to help creators improve video performance and audience interaction.
A new feature has been added that uses AI to automatically edit footage into a "Draft Video." This not only automatically selects the best scenes but also adds transitions, music, and voiceovers, allowing creators to quickly create a usable video clip that can then be directly uploaded to YouTube after making minor adjustments. This feature is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be gradually released in the coming weeks.
YouTube will also be launching an automatically generated voiceover feature, initially supporting English and Hindi. It will be integrated into the YouTube Create app and the Shorts video creation interface and will launch later this year. More interestingly, YouTube will also offer a tool that converts spoken dialogue in videos into "crackling music," making it easier for creators to create content that fits the rhythm of Shorts videos, increasing the likelihood of their videos being shared and re-created.
YouTube also announced that it will expand Veo 3's application in Shorts, allowing users to generate higher-quality short videos from simple text prompts and directly add sound effects or music. This update also adds character animations and stylized special effects, while improving the accuracy of prompt matching, making it easier for creators to create short videos with their own personal style.
In addition to the AI creation function, YouTube Studio will also introduce the "conversational AI assistant" function to help creators quickly obtain analytical information such as traffic sources and viewing data to help optimize channel management strategies. This function has now begun to be launched.
YouTube has also added several new features to enhance collaboration and interaction, including the ability to co-produce videos with up to four other creators, which will be visible on all participating channels, increasing reach and discovery. This feature will be available globally in the coming weeks.
YouTube also announced the long-awaited A/B testing feature, which allows creators to test three different titles for the same video to see which version brings the best click-through performance.
Overall, YouTube's update clearly uses AI as a core driving force. From content production to data analysis, everything can be accelerated through smart tools, reducing the workload of creators and allowing more people to try to enter the field of video creation with minimal barriers to entry.
