Years after its launch, Rockstar Games has announced a free update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V with new features. The update will be available through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or Epic Games platforms.
This update brings features previously only available on the latest generation of consoles, and improves the gaming experience and performance on PC. Existing owners of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V can upgrade to the new version for free, transferring their Story Mode and Online progress. Players playing Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for the first time on PC will receive both the new version (Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition) and the original version (Grand Theft Auto V Legacy Edition) when purchasing the download.
New vehicles added to the PC version include the Pegassi Ignus (supercar), Tornado II (supercar), Karin S95 (sports car), Impreza Arbiter GT (American muscle car), and Pfister Acetron Custom (SUV). All 20 existing GTA Online vehicles can also be customized with Aho Custom.
To celebrate the launch of GTA+ on the PC platform, Rockstar Games has launched a special classic collection. From now until May 5, GTA+ members can receive the Rule 28 (supercar) for free.
An updated splash screen lets veteran PC players easily jump into the action, while new players can take advantage of a revamped onboarding process and a GTA$400 windfall via the Career Builder, making choosing one of four criminal careers a breeze.
The Career Progression feature will help you track your progress across all GTA Online content updates and unlock special rewards as you make progress.
Both upgraded and existing players can enjoy a wealth of new content for GTA Online, including today's new update: "Oscar Götzmann Returns to the Skies": Take over the historic McKenzie Airport hangar in Grapeseed as the new base for your illegal weapons trafficking business.
Additionally, playing the new upgraded version on hardware that meets the recommended specifications will allow you to experience the PC version's unique ray tracing features, such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, as well as the ray traced shadows and reflections previously introduced on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Other updates include the addition of AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS technologies, as well as the DualSense controller with adaptive trigger support. It can also quickly load game content through SSD and DirectStorage technology, and supports higher resolution, more aspect ratios and higher frame rates. It also supports Dolby Atmos enhanced audio, as well as improved voice, movie effects and music fidelity.
