After using its MEMS micro-electromechanical system technology to create a solid-state cooling chip,xMEMS Labs (Zhiwei Electronics) has once again launched a micro active cooling chip "µCooling" for wearable devices such as smart glasses. It is advertised as a "wearable fan" that can achieve active cooling effects in a fanless design.

This time, we provide a micro active cooling chip "µCooling" for wearable devices such as smart glasses. The overall size is only approximately 9.3 x 7.6 x 1.13 mm. It can be directly integrated into the frame of smart glasses and can effectively reduce the surface temperature of the device by up to 40%. This allows smart glasses to achieve 60-70% or higher performance efficiency, while also allowing users to wear them for long periods of time without feeling uncomfortable due to high temperatures.

Unlike traditional fans, µCooling utilizes a solid-state vibration module to drive airflow, resulting in near-silent and vibration-free operation. This makes it ideal for wearable devices that are sensitive to sound and have extremely limited internal space. xMEMS Labs states that this technology can significantly improve smart glasses from experiencing overheating-related throttling or discomfort, while also enhancing reliability and practicality for all-day wear.

Mike Housholder, Vice President of Marketing at xMEMS Labs, emphasized that thermal management is no longer just a performance issue; it directly impacts the wearing experience and safety of smart glasses. He also revealed that "µCooling" is currently the only active cooling solution that can be integrated into eyeglass frames in a lightweight form, enabling smart glasses to be truly worn for extended periods of time, every day.

Currently, "µCooling" has begun to provide samples for external testing and is expected to enter mass production in early 2026. It is also expected to be used in wearable devices such as smart glasses to be launched in the future.
