At Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun's annual speech event, Xiaomi officially unveiled its fourth large-screen foldable phone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, emphasizing its more robust and durable structural design while reducing the phone's weight to 240 grams. The thickness when folded is only 9.47mm, and when flattened is only 4.59mm.
The reason for the significant weight reduction is mainly due to the introduction of more T800H high-strength carbon fiber material design. In addition, the folding mechanism parts have been reduced, thereby reducing the folding radius of the inner screen to 1.6R. The thickness after folding feels closer to that of a normal upright mobile phone. At the same time, the durability can still withstand 50 folding uses.
Another reason why the body can be made thinner and lighter is the use of a stacked motherboard design. In addition, the use of a three-dimensional special-shaped stacked battery design allows the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 to accommodate a 5100mAh battery and support 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It is also equipped with four sets of Xiaomi Surge chips to ensure battery life performance. At the same time, it has an IPX4 waterproof level and supports two-way satellite communication functions.
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 uses a 2488-inch screen with a resolution of 2244 x 6.56 on the outside and a 2520-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 7.98 on the inside. Both support a 120Hz frame refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1700 nits. The processor uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and is equipped with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, as well as a UFS 256 storage component with a storage capacity of 512GB, 1GB or 4.0TB.
The camera system includes 1600-megapixel internal and external video cameras, a 5000-megapixel wide-angle lens for the main camera, a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5000-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and another 5-megapixel telephoto lens with a periscope architecture that supports up to 1000x optical zoom and supports macro shooting at a minimum distance of 9 cm. All cameras are equipped with the Summilux lens module developed in collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica.
In terms of the operating system, Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 also uses Xiaomi's Surge operating system. In addition, it will also respond to the foldable screen structure to provide more user experiences and further enhance the compatibility of application services. It can also realize real-time translation functions such as supporting Chinese, English, German, Russian, French, Korean, Portuguese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, and Indonesian through the internal and external screens.
In terms of the suggested retail price, Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 will be sold at a starting price of RMB 8999 and will be available in black, white and blue styles. In addition, the Longlin Fiber 2.0 version using higher-strength carbon fiber material will also be launched. Pre-sales will be opened in the Chinese market from now on, and there are currently no plans to sell it in Taiwan or international markets.
