In the new Grok Imagine image and video generation tool launched by xAI, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company,TechCrunch websiteIt was discovered that the feature has a built-in mode called "Spicy" that can quickly generate content with sexually suggestive or semi-nude elements.
According to TechCrunch's testing, Grok Imagine is virtually immune to certain adult-themed keywords, generating sensitive images or videos labeled "Not Safe For Work" (NSFW) within seconds. As users continue browsing, the system automatically generates more related content. While some requests are blurred or censored, it still successfully generates semi-nude images, demonstrating a relatively lax censorship mechanism.
Currently, Grok Imagine is only available to users with paid SuperGrok and Premium+ X subscriptions. It offers multiple output modes, allowing users to control the style and theme of generated images. However, there are additional limitations on generating celebrity images. For example, when a tester requested an image of a pregnant Trump, the system only responded with alternatives such as "Trump with a pregnant woman" or "Trump holding a baby."
This isn't the first time Grok has garnered controversy; it has previously faced criticism for anti-Semitic rhetoric, conspiracy theory propagation, and its built-in "AI girlfriend" feature. The launch of its image generator has raised market concerns that xAI's openness to sensitive content could pose greater risks, such as unauthorized image generation of people, misuse of adult content, and potential legal and ethical issues.
However, Elon Musk himself expressed great excitement about this new feature, and said on "X" that the number of images generated by Grok Imagine has skyrocketed from 1400 million to 2000 million in one day, and claimed that the tool will become a "meme generator".It is also predicted that its generation function will continue to be improved in the future.
