Announced recentlyNew artificial intelligence model Grok 3After opening it to everyone for stress testing, xAI has also quietly built a data center in Atlanta, USA, in the hope of alleviating the operating load of the large data center originally located in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
According to a partnership agreement between xAI and Develop Fulton, Atlanta's economic development agency, this new data center in Atlanta will deploy approximately 12448 NVIDIA GPU accelerators and will be jointly operated by xAI and "X". The total investment is approximately US$7 million, of which xAI will contribute approximately US$2.58 million and "X" will contribute approximately US$4.42 million. The Atlanta government expects this to drive more than US$2.41 million in local economic benefits.
At the same time, relevant personnel stated that this data center will provide "exascale computing" computing power performance, capable of running artificial intelligence models with more than one trillion parameters. Its hardware architecture will use multiple sets of NVIDIA H100 GPUs, some of which will use the earlier launched A100 GPUs, and will operate with a water cooling system.
As for the power requirements, data center architects estimate that approximately 20 megawatts of power resources will be needed. xAI has previously applied for a 150-megawatt power supply from the local Tennessee Valley Power Company to ensure stable operation of the data center while retaining a certain degree of flexibility to meet subsequent expansion needs.
