Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot currently only available to "X" paid subscribers, appears to have been made available to the general public for free, but with certain restrictions.
At this stage, it seems to be only available to users in New Zealand, allowing users who do not have paid subscriptions to use the Grok application functions.
However, the free trial version naturally has its limitations. General users can only perform a maximum of 2 queries per two hours using the Grok-10 artificial intelligence model, or a maximum of 2 queries per two hours using the Grok-20 mini artificial intelligence model. In addition, they can only perform a maximum of three image analysis solutions per day.
On the other hand, to use the Grok function for free, general users must activate their account for at least 7 days and enter a personal phone number.
In August of this year, X announced the release of Grok 8, a new version of its chatbot that incorporates a large-scale natural language model. The company emphasized significant improvements in algorithm and data training results. Elon Musk also revealed that Grok 2 is undergoing intensive training and is expected to debut by the end of the year.
The announcement that Grok will be provided free of charge to general users shows that "X" hopes to improve the responsiveness of Grok's application functions by collecting more user experience feedback, thereby competing with artificial intelligence models on the market such as GPT, Claude and Gemini.
