Elon Musk previously revealed that he would make the "X" formerly known as TwitterBecoming a super app, and is preparing to add voice, video calls and encrypted private messaging functions. It now seems to have quietly started to provide VoIP calls and video functions.
This feature, which has been quietly launched in "X", will use the CallKit API resources in the iOS operating system and allow friends and relatives stored in the user's contacts, followers in "X", and authenticated users to make voice or video calls via VoIP. The operating interface during use will be integrated into the general call function.
If users do not want to be disturbed, they can also select "Private Messaging" in "Privacy and Security" in the "X" settings option and choose who can send messages directly, or decide who can make calls in the voice and video call function options, or even turn off this function altogether.
Prior to this, Elon Musk had revealed that he hoped to make Twitter an app that users frequently use in their daily lives, similar to WeChat, and that could meet their daily needs. Therefore, functions such as making calls, sharing content, and completing payments were all necessary features to be added.
However, many users have actually complained that after adding many functions to "X", the usage speed and operation response seem to be not as good as before. If more people use "X" to use online calls and video functions in the future, it will inevitably affect the overall fluency of use. This means that "X" must increase more service bandwidth and purchase more servers, otherwise the actual user experience may become worse.
On the other hand, whether the addition of VoIP calling and video functions will cause more user problems, such as increasing user harassment, or affecting the use of users who originally just want to quietly browse information, may require observing the subsequent user reactions.
