To increase platform transparency and combat fake accounts, "X" has begun pushing a new feature called "About this account" to some users. This feature will publicly display background information such as the user's location, account creation location, and the number of times the username (Handle) has been changed.
The system will display name change history and connection information; VPN users will also see a "disclaimer".
According to Nikita Bier, the product manager of "X", and user feedback, this feature will not only display the country where the account is located, but also indicate whether the account is connected through the web version or through a specific App Store version.
It is worth noting that "X" has also incorporated corresponding mechanisms to address privacy and accuracy:
• Privacy Options: In the profile settings, users can choose to display the exact "country" or the more vague "region/continent" as the default option.
• VPN Detection: If the system detects that a user is accessing service "X" through a VPN, a message may appear on their profile stating "Country or region may be inaccurate".Disclaimer (disclaimer).
When you read content on X, you should be able to verify its authenticity. This is critical to getting a pulse on important issues happening in the world.
As part of that, we're experimenting with displaying new information on profiles, including which country an account is… pic.twitter.com/OYgT1OiJdA

Following the Meta mechanism, verify the authenticity of the content.
"X" is clearly following the lead of other social media platforms (such as Facebook's fan page information transparency and Instagram's "About This Account"). Nikita Bier emphasized that the purpose of launching this feature is to verify the authenticity of content posted on "X," giving users more information to judge the source of the account when browsing posts.
This feature is currently being rolled out gradually. Users can try clicking the "Joined" button below their own profile ("X") to view their own information, but may not be able to view other users' detailed data yet.
