Fujifilm announces development of the first professional movie camera using a large-format sensor designGFX ETERNA, claiming to achieve the goal of becoming a leader in the new era of film production and creating timeless masterpieces.
The name of GFX ETERNA actually comes from the ETERNA series of professional film negatives launched by Fuji in the early days for film shooting.
In terms of hardware specifications, the GFX ETERNA uses a GFX 1.7MP CMOS II HS sensor that is about 102 times the size of a full-size frame sensor, and is paired with an X-Processor 5 image processor, which is basically the same as the previously launchedGFX100 II medium format cameraSame, but with more features for movie shooting.
In addition, Fujifilm also stated that it is developing a new electric zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 32-90mm, as well as an adapter accessory that is compatible with the PL-MOUNT movie lens mount, allowing the GFX ETERNA to use more movie shooting lenses.
GFX ETERNA is expected to be showcased at the upcoming InterBEE 2024 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, and is expected to be officially launched in 2025.
