Anthropic has taken another step closer to a formal listing, becoming the AI company known for developing the Claude large-scale language model.Earlier confirmedIt has secretly submitted a draft S-1 listing application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), preparing to formally move from venture capital in the primary market to the public capital market on Wall Street.
Details of the offering are currently confidential, but recent revenue figures are extremely impressive.
Anthropic has not yet publicly disclosed the expected offering price for its IPO, nor has it decided how many shares will be released. As the S-1 filing is currently confidential, the public will have to wait some more to fully examine the AI company's detailed financial statements and operational structure.
Nevertheless, Anthropic's recent financial performance and cash-generating ability have already caused a huge stir in the market. According to market news last month, Anthropic is expected to achieve its first profitable quarter since its inception in the quarter ending June 30th of this year. Market estimates predict that its quarterly revenue will reach $109 billion, and it is expected to achieve an operating profit of $5.59 million.
In terms of cash reserves, Anthropic just announced last week the completion of a massive $650 billion funding round. This injection of funds has boosted the company's overall valuation to a staggering $9650 billion, bringing it one step closer to becoming a "trillion-dollar company."
AI and aerospace giants are successively launching projects, fueling a frenzy in the capital markets in the second half of the year.
Based on the current progress of submitting the S-1 draft, Anthropic is very likely to be officially listed later this year.
This wave of top startups going public is sweeping the market. Not only is SpaceX, the space exploration company led by Elon Musk, widely expected to hold its IPO this month, but there are also frequent reports in the industry that OpenAI, Anthropic's biggest competitor, is also very likely to launch its listing plan in the coming months.
