Highly anticipated by playersNetflix's live-action Assassin's Creed television seriesAfter a five-year development period, specific design details have finally emerged. According to the Nexus Point News website...ReportThis TV series, adapted from a Ubisoft game, may be set in the "Ancient Rome" period that players have been eagerly anticipating.
Focusing on the reign of Emperor Nero, Tobivalles plays a major role.
The report indicates that the series is expected to be set between 54 and 68 AD, during the reign of Nero, the infamous tyrant of the Roman Empire. Historical figures, including Nero himself and his mentor, the Stoic philosopher Seneca the Younger, will reportedly appear in the series.
This means that although the series chooses "Rome" as the location, the time period is completely different from the Renaissance Rome depicted in the game Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and it also predates the event of Aya's assassination of Caesar in Assassin's Creed: Origins. This indicates that the series will adopt an original storyline rather than directly adapting the existing game plot.
Regarding casting, Netflix and Ubisoft have already announced the first confirmed regular cast member for the series, Australian actor Toby Wallace, who has appeared in "The Bikeriders" and "Babyteeth". Although his specific role has not yet been announced, it is expected that he will play one of the main characters.
After five years of development, production has finally been approved, with the aim of creating an anthology-style structure.
Netflix announced back in 2020 that it would produce a live-action Assassin's Creed series, but it wasn't until July of this year that the official release was announced.Officially approved for productionThe official blog once described the plot as "a high-tension thriller centered on a secret war between two shadow factions."
While it remains unclear whether Netflix will maintain its original plan of a "multiple different series" universe, fans generally hope for a game-like anthology structure, allowing each season to explore different historical periods and assassin stories.
