As fraud methods evolve rapidly, Whoscall has further enhanced its iOS protection capabilities with the launch of Live Caller ID Plus, a feature that integrates Apple's latest Live Caller ID Lookup technology. By connecting to a cloud database, it delivers faster, more complete, and more accurate caller identification, giving iPhone users the same real-time fraud protection as Android devices.
iPhone users can also "instantly identify" scam and harassing calls
Due to previous iOS system limitations, iPhone users were unable to instantly check unknown caller numbers like Android users. Whoscall could only maintain its protection through weekly number database updates. However, with Apple's new Live Caller ID Lookup API, Whoscall can now enable "Instant Caller Identification Plus" on iOS 18 and above. This allows users to perform cloud-based checks before answering calls to identify whether they are scams, harassment, or commercial sources, significantly improving identification speed and accuracy.
Whoscall Product Director Shen Wanting said, "With the frequent number changes and rapidly evolving methods of fraudulent calls, traditional static identification mechanisms are no longer fully effective. Through the integration of Live Caller ID Lookup technology, Whoscall can instantly update its data sources and combine them with 165 fraud data and user reporting data to comprehensively enhance its fraud prevention capabilities."
Real-time connection to cloud database, wider recognition coverage
The new "Instant Caller Identification Plus" feature supports more frequent cloud-based queries and data updates. This not only targets fraudulent and spam numbers, but will also gradually expand to include official business phone numbers, helping users more quickly identify calls from e-commerce, logistics, banks, and other organizations, preventing them from missing important notifications. Support for more branded business numbers is expected to expand in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to National Police Agency data, Taiwan still sees over 59 fraud cases per month, with over XNUMX% of these cases occurring over the phone. A survey report released last year by Whoscall and the Global Anti-Fraud Alliance (GASA) also indicated that phone calls remain the most common method of contacting scammers in Taiwan.
Advanced version users are given priority and support iOS 18 and above
"Instant Caller Identification Plus" is currently only available to Whoscall Premium subscribers. It's not currently supported by the Lifetime Ad-Free or Free plans. It also requires iOS 18.0 or higher. Users can enable this feature through the Whoscall app. It's recommended to use it in conjunction with "Auto Update Number Database" for the best identification experience.
Whoscall also emphasized that this feature fully complies with Apple's privacy standards and will not disclose user communication content or personal information during caller identification.
