Recently confirmed that it will make HBO Max serviceOperate in a more independent manner, and after ending its channel service cooperation with Apple and Amazon, WarnerMedia once again announced that the HBO Go service will officially cease operations at the end of July this year, and the streaming video service originally called HBO Now will be renamed HBO.
After this adjustment, only HBO and HBO Max streaming video services will operate in parallel in the future.
HBO Go is a streaming video service launched by HBO, a subsidiary of WarnerMedia, in 2010. It mainly allows HBO service subscribers to watch TV series and movies at any time through mobile devices such as mobile phones. In 2015, it followed up with the launch of HBO Now, a monthly subscription service.
The HBO Max streaming video service launched last year not only includes a large number of HBO's exclusive original video content, but also includes a large number of HBO TV series, movies, and Warner's video content. It can be regarded as an upgraded version of HBO Now.
As more and more people tend to use monthly subscription services to watch content, HBO believes that there is no need to retain HBO Go for use in conjunction with the original service subscription.
As for the intention of adjusting the original HBO Now name and simplifying it to HBO, it is expected to be for comparison with the existing HBO Max service, so that users can have a clearer distinction, that is, subscribing to the HBO service can watch all HBO-affiliated video and audio content. If you want to watch more Warner-affiliated video and audio content, you must change to the HBO Max service.
