Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) announcedWill be split into two independent media companies, namely Warner Bros. Discovery Streaming & Studios (WBD Streaming & Studios) and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Networks (WBD Global Networks).
Among them, Warner Bros. Discovery Streaming Media and Studios will include Warner Bros. film, television and game studios, as well as New Line Cinema, DC Films, HBO and HBO Max services, while Warner Bros. Discovery Global Network has entertainment and sports news channel brands, including cable TV channel content such as CNN, TNT Sports, HGTV, Cartoon Network, TCL and Discovery Channel in the United States, as well as streaming video services such as Discovery+ and Bleacher Report content in Europe.
Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to complete the split in mid-2026, and emphasizes that it will be split into two independent media companies, each of which will hold unique content assets and will operate and develop independently, while each will aim to become a listed company. From the overall development point of view, Warner Bros. Discovery is equivalent to redistributing the content assets held by WarnerMedia and Discovery after the merger in April 2022, and emphasizes that it will be invested in future development in a better form.
As for David Zaslav, currently the CEO and President of Warner Bros. Discovery, he will become the CEO and President of Warner Bros. Discovery Streaming and Studios, while Gunnar Wiedenfels, currently the CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, will become the CEO and President of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Networks. However, before the official completion of the separation, David Zaslav and Gunnar Wiedenfels will continue to lead the development of Warner Bros. Discovery in their current positions.
