Walmart's recent acquisitionsAR optical technology company Memomi, thereby strengthening its virtual try-on service for products such as glasses, which will enable more than 2800 Walmart locations and more than 550 Walmart-affiliated warehouse stores Sams Club to provide more convenient virtual try-on services.
In fact, Memomi's AR technology can be applied to more virtual try-on scenarios, including product categories such as beauty, clothing, accessories, and shoes. However, Walmart currently only applies Memomi technology to virtual try-on of eyewear products.
Currently, Memomi has collaborated with brands such as Sephora, Estée Lauder, Dior, YSL, Sisley, and GIORGIO ARMANI, using its software technology to create products such as digital mirrors that can support virtual makeup and clothing changes. It has also been collaborating with Walmart since 2019.
After the acquisition by Walmart, Memomi co-founders Salvador Nissi Vilcovsky and Ofer Saban will join the Walmart team, and when regulators approve the transaction, Memomi team members will also join Walmart's global technology team.
However, Walmart did not disclose the specific amount of the acquisition of Memomi, nor did it specify whether Memomi's current external cooperation services will continue.
In addition to acquiring Memomi, Walmart previously acquired Zeekit's technology resources, allowing users to use AR technology to confirm how furniture products are placed in their homes, thereby determining whether the size and style of the originally selected furniture are suitable.
