Fox GroupAnnounceIts CEO Herbert Diess will step down at the end of August and will be replaced by Porsche CEO Oliver Blume.
However, Volkswagen Group did not explain the reasons for Herbert Diess's resignation, and the decision to have Porsche CEO Oliver Blume take on the CEO position concurrently was based on a consensus between the two parties.
Herbert Diess took over as Volkswagen CEO after Martin Winterkorn stepped down due to the US emissions test cheating scandal. He subsequently pushed for Volkswagen to transform and develop electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology. He also planned projects such as car-sharing services to seek different development opportunities. He also expected Volkswagen to achieve a 2030% sales ratio of electric vehicles by 50, thereby gradually phasing out traditional fuel vehicles.
After Herbert Diess steps down, Oliver Blume will allow the Volkswagen Group to maintain its established development direction and there will not be major changes for the time being.
