Vivo today (7/9) chose to be the first to announce the foldable screen phone Galaxy Z Fold7, which was recently announced in the Chinese market, before Samsung officially unveiled its new products.vivoThe news that it will be launched in Taiwan soon, and before the actual price and launch plan are announced, users can experience this new phone in advance through "pre-registration".

This time, in the form of "pre-registration", users can experience the lightweight and thin features of vivo X Fold5 before the actual price and launch plan are announced. If you complete the pre-order at the designated channel before July 7, you will get an additional 22-month screen accidental warranty.
Vivo has also revealed that it will hold a physical experience event in late July this year. In addition to allowing more users to further experience the vivo X Fold7, it is also expected to announce the specific launch of this foldable screen mobile phone.

Vivo's lightest foldable phone, the thinnest is only 4.3mm
Compared with the vivo X Fold219 launched last year, which weighed only 3 grams, the vivo X Fold5 launched by vivo this time has reduced its weight by 2 grams again, with a total weight of only 217 grams. The thickness of the body when flattened is 4.3mm, and the thickness when folded is 9.2mm.

In addition, the vivo X Fold5 supports IPX8, IPX9, IPX9+ waterproof, and IP5X dustproof, and can even be folded and used underwater, and has a minus 20 degree antifreeze design. The hinge part uses a carbon fiber skeleton hinge, which can be folded up to 60 times, claiming to strike a balance between lightness and durability.

However, the appearance of vivo X Fold5 almost continues the design of vivo X Fold3. The Taiwan version is available in white and black, and the cyan version is not introduced.
Maintaining the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and claiming to improve camera quality
The processor still uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 launched by Qualcomm last year. Other specifications include a 6.53-inch external screen with a resolution of 2748 x 1172, and an 8.03-inch internal screen with a resolution of 2480 x 2200. Both support a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a 6000mAh battery capacity design (3275mAh and 2725mAh dual batteries in parallel), supporting 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

In terms of camera functions, both the internal and external video lenses are 2000-megapixel in specification, and the main camera is composed of a 5000-megapixel super-sensitive VCS bionic wide-angle lens, a 5000-megapixel Zeiss super telephoto lens, and a 5000-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. It is claimed to cover the five golden shooting focal lengths of 23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm, and uses Zeiss T* coating technology to greatly suppress glare and ghosting interference. In addition, it also adds a classic negative color style and supports Live Photo direct output, further expanding the image creation space.

The software part is equipped with Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, supporting "Atomic Workbench", multi-tasking floating windows, Shortcut shortcut keys, and multiple AI smart functions, from audio to text, real-time subtitle translation, to AI text scanning, image generation, etc., which improves usage efficiency and becomes the best tool for mobile office and creation.
Other functions include support for eSIM and NFC access card simulation functions. In addition, the body is also equipped with a shortcut key function that can set operating functions, making it convenient for users to quickly activate commonly used functions.

However, the version sold in the Chinese market can support connection with Apple devices such as Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods, but the version sold in the Taiwanese market does not support it. The main reason is the difference in operating system (which has nothing to do with hardware specifications). Currently, it is only available in OringinalOS used in the version sold in the Chinese market, and is not available in Funtouch OS of the version sold in the Taiwanese market.
Competing with Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 in the Taiwanese market
Vivo chose to announce the launch in Taiwan before Samsung is about to release its new foldable phone Galaxy Z Fold7. It is clear that Vivo will directly compete with Samsung in the foldable phone market with the Vivo X Fold5. Vivo Taiwan pointed out that the current foldable phone market in Taiwan accounts for about 2%-3%. Therefore, after spending three years evaluating, it was found that consumers in the Taiwanese market are more willing to use large-size foldable phones. Therefore, it decided to introduce the Vivo X Fold3, which was recently launched in the Chinese market, starting this year.
Although the hardware specifications use the processor design launched last year, vivo expects that the vivo X Fold5 will be able to attract more users who want to buy foldable phones with a thinner and more durable body design, higher-level waterproof and dustproof specifications, and camera specifications supported by Zeiss technology, as well as more user-friendly software functions and a relatively competitive pricing strategy.
