Vivo officially unveiled the new generation of operating system interface at the 2025 Developer Conference held earlierOrigin OS 6It claims to make AI the core soul of the operating system, and emphasizes that vivo has rebuilt the underlying system of Android with its own technology, emphasizing all-round optimization from computing, display to storage architecture, and further explains that the overall operation becomes faster and smoother through the Blue River Smooth Engine.
AI becomes the core of system operation
In this update, vivo has elevated AI from an auxiliary role to the core of the system.
The new version of XiaoV Circle Search incorporates "screen sensing" capabilities, automatically identifying key content within the screen. From restaurant addresses to photos of passersby to shopping links, users can access services or actions with one click. AI also permeates everyday operations, such as automatically generating names for documents, recordings, and emails, freeing users from the hassle of organizing data.
vivo has also added Live Photo AI removal technology. Through frame-by-frame recognition and intelligent patching, it can naturally remove background objects from even dynamic photos, achieving smooth and seamless editing effects. AI has also evolved in the communication experience. The new AI call assistant can automatically navigate the customer service system, complete keystrokes and queues, and return the call to the user after connecting with a real person, significantly reducing time-consuming operations.
Intelligent large model matrix support system
Behind these capabilities lies vivo's continuously evolving Blue Heart large-scale model matrix. The Blue Heart 3B device-side model, launched this year, is the first multimodal model to integrate language understanding, multimodality, logical reasoning, long memory, and agent capabilities at the scale of 30 billion parameters. It has even surpassed the 80-billion-parameter model in multiple authoritative industry rankings, demonstrating vivo's technological prowess in efficiently operating on-device AI models.
In addition, vivo has also introduced AI LoRA training technology, which can complete exclusive beauty or voice model training in minutes, so that personalized AI no longer relies on the cloud, truly realizing device-side intelligence.
Reconstructing Android's underlying architecture with proprietary technology
Beyond AI, vivo has also made unprecedented adjustments to its underlying system architecture. The all-new Blue River Smooth Engine, focusing on the three core modules of computing, storage, and display, improves task priority management through hyper-core computing scheduling, resulting in an 11% increase in application launch speed even under high load.
In terms of memory management, vivo has integrated DMA memory into unified management and restructured the virtual machine and garbage collection mechanisms, increasing data loading speed in heavy-load scenarios by over 2 times. In terms of display, a dual-rendering architecture has been introduced, enabling a unified rendering pipeline for both dynamic and high-load scenarios, improving image stability by 11% and rendering efficiency by 35%.
According to vivo's actual tests, the three-year-old X90 equipped with OriginOS 6 can surpass new models equipped with older systems in terms of operation response speed and sliding stability, demonstrating the actual performance leap brought about by this underlying optimization.
Apple still has many colors
Although vivo emphasized the addition of many self-developed technologies in the new version of OriginOS, and also emphasized the use of the Blue Heart model and the new Blue River smooth engine to enhance the operating system experience, many Apple colors can still be seen in the overall interface.
For example, many basic interface designs are similar to iOS. Even the AI light effect when waking up the digital assistant service Xiao V is similar to the interactive visual effect of the new version of Siri. The newly added progressive blur effect is actually similar to the Liquid Glass added by Apple in iOS 26. Even the new version of the push message stacking design has been added.
Will the new system’s first models and release schedule allow OriginOS to enter the international market?
The brand new OriginOS 6 will be first launched with vivo's upcoming X300 and iQOO 15 series flagships. Currently, some vivo models are open for internal testing, and the public beta version is expected to be released in November.
Earlier reports indicated that vivo plans to switch its international sales models to OriginOS, replacing the long-used FuntouchOS. This means that the Chinese and international versions of the models will maintain a more consistent user experience. Specific details may be revealed at the upcoming X300 launch event.
Simultaneously announced BlueOS 3 for watch devices
In addition to announcing OriginOS 6 for mobile devices, vivo also announced the launch of BlueOS 3 (Blue River Operating System 3) for watch devices, claiming to create full-link intelligent capabilities, with lightweight and modular deployment features, and the ability to apply AI technology to more devices.
The first device to use BlueOS 3 will be the vivo WATCH GT 2 smartwatch, which is expected to debut alongside the X300 series flagship phone.
