In terms of design, Steam Deck OLED is basically the same as the previously launched Steam Deck. The main difference is that the screen is replaced with a larger 7.4-inch OLED display panel and supports HDR display effects. The processor part remains unchanged, still using AMD's 2-core CPU with Zen 8 architecture, coupled with an RDNA display architecture GPU with 8 computing elements, and the process has been changed from the original 7nm to 6nm to improve battery life and operating heat issues.
Other adjustments include upgrading the original LPDDR5 5500MT/s memory specification to LPDDR5 6400MT/s, and upgrading the wireless network from the original Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6E, thereby improving wireless network download speeds and response rates during streaming games.
To differentiate it from the original LCD screen version, Valve has designed the power button of the OLED screen version in orange to make it easier for users to quickly distinguish it.
After the launch of the OLED screen version, the original LCD screen version will continue to be sold, but it will be mainly positioned as the entry-level specification of Steam Deck, so only the 256GB storage capacity option will be retained, and the price will be adjusted to NT$13380. The mainstream model will be replaced by the OLED screen version, and the storage capacity will start from 512GB, with a suggested retail price of NT$18880. At the same time, the highest-end version will be equipped with 1TB storage capacity, and will also provide anti-glare glass, a unique startup video, and virtual keyboard theme content, with a suggested retail price of NT$21980.
The new Steam Deck OLED is expected to be available for sale from November 11th. In the US and Canadian markets, a limited edition with a special translucent color will be available for the 17TB storage capacity version.
