Regarding the recent proposal by software technology platform provider AppLovin$200 billion takeover offer, Unity officially announcedExpress refusal, and will continue to completeThe $44 billion acquisition of software company IronSource.
Unity's board of directors said it decided after discussion that AppLovin's proposal would not be in the best interests of Unity investors, and therefore formally rejected AppLovin's acquisition offer.
Unity President and CEO John Riccitiello said that after the board of directors discussed the matter, they unanimously agreed that continuing to complete the acquisition of ironSource would enable Unity to obtain greater market development opportunities, create longer-term value, and bring greater benefits to creators, publishers, etc.
However, when Unity announced its acquisition of ironSource a few days ago, although it said that the purpose was to make it easier for developers to insert advertisements into games, such as adding various types of advertising content to game content on smartphone platforms or online multiplayer game content to increase additional profits, it is clear that ironSource's reputation is not acceptable to most developers, and it may even cause a large number of developers to leave because of this transaction with Unity.
