In the announcementSecond quarter financial results for fiscal year 2022At the same time, Unity announced that it had signed a three-year, multi-million dollar cooperation agreement with CACI International to create an advanced human-computer interaction interface.
CACI International signed a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Army in July this year, and will assist the U.S. Army in performing aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance tasks through technological means. Unity's cooperation with CACI International is actually equivalent to indirectly cooperating with the U.S. Army to apply Unity engine technology to the military field.
Marc Whitten, Senior Vice President of Unity, stated that through this partnership, Unity will assist the US military in developing human-machine interfaces for aerospace applications, leveraging Unity Engine simulation technology to achieve real-time interactive experiences. Unity also anticipates further collaboration on future US military system design and simulation projects.
This cooperation agreement will be Unity's largest digital twin technology application solution transaction to date.
However, prior to this, Unity employees had publicly opposed the company's use of its technology in the military, arguing that their original focus was on content creation, not directly or indirectly assisting the military in developing relevant technology. Similarly, employees at companies like Google and Microsoft have publicly opposed their companies' use of their technology in the military, but this has not prevented them from collaborating with the military based on profit considerations.
