United Airlines plans to begin testing the technology on its flights this spring, after partnering with SpaceX last September.Satellite internet services provided by Starlink.
United Airlines plans to test Starlink's satellite internet service on its Embraer E-175 aircraft, and other aircraft are expected to be installed by 2025. It is expected to become the first airline to provide Starlink satellite internet service on all its aircraft by the end of this year.
As long as passengers are members of United Airlines' MileagePlus program, they can use Starlink's Internet service for free during the flight. The airline also hopes to attract more passengers to join its MileagePlus program through this free service.
In addition to United Airlines, Starlink previouslyAlready partnered with Delta Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, provides satellite Internet services on its aircraft models, and more airlines are expected to join in the future.
As for cooperation with aviation industry, Starlink is currentlyPartnering with T-Mobile, it is expected to provide more people in the United States with direct access to satellite networks via mobile phones, and recently announced thatPartnering with One NZ, making New Zealand the first country in the world to have satellite Internet services available nationwide.
