In the EUConditional approval for Broadcom's acquisition of VMwareAfterwards, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) also preliminarily determined that the transaction did not constitute a market monopoly and temporarily approved the transaction.
If no further objections arise before August 8 this year, the UK Competition and Markets Authority will make a final decision on September 9.
The reason why the UK Competition and Markets Authority initially determined that Broadcom's acquisition of VMware did not constitute a market monopoly was that if VMware's software could not run smoothly on Broadcom's competitors' products after being acquired by Broadcom, it would be detrimental to Broadcom's actual revenue. Therefore, it was determined that this transaction was not sufficient to constitute a market monopoly.
The Competition and Markets Authority of the European Union and the United Kingdom have both approved Broadcom's acquisition of VMware. The transaction has also been approved in Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Africa, Taiwan and other countries and regions. It is expected that after obtaining approval from the United States, Broadcom will be able to successfully acquire VMware's related assets.
