LG earlierAnnounceLG has partnered with Ubisoft to bring Ubisoft's motion-sensing rhythm game Just Dance Now to its smart TV platform. The game is expected to launch in December on the LG Gaming Portal in the US and Europe, supporting LG TVs running webOS 22 or later.
The biggest highlight of this collaboration is that players can use the "Magic Remote" motion-sensing remote that comes standard with LG smart TVs as a motion controller to play games without any additional hardware (such as game consoles or cameras).
Magic Remote transforms into a motion-sensing controller, adopting a free-to-play subscription model.
Just Dance Now was first released on iOS and Android platforms in 2014, and later on Apple TV, primarily targeting customers who did not own a game console. Its original design used a smartphone as a controller, similar to how the original Just Dance was played on the Nintendo Wii using the Wii Remote in 2009.
This time, its launch on the LG platform cleverly utilizes the motion detection function built into the LG Magic Remote, allowing it to be directly used as a game control device.
In terms of content and pricing, Just Dance Now offers a music library containing hundreds of songs across different eras. Players can play for a limited time each day (or for a single track), and if they need more playtime, they can choose to subscribe to Ubisoft's paid plan or purchase individual song packs.
Officially launching in December, with Beta testing coming soon.
Before the official release in December, Ubisoft announced a beta test version. Players participating in the test can try out three songs on the first day, and can play one song for free each day for the following two weeks (the specific release date of the beta is yet to be announced).
LG Gaming Portal ecosystem continues to expand
The addition of Just Dance Now further clarifies LG Gaming Portal's positioning as an alternative to casual gaming platforms. Prior to this, the cloud version of Xbox Game Pass officially launched on TV platforms in April of this year, and the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service was upgraded several months ago to support LG TVs, providing a game streaming experience up to 4K 120Hz.
