To meet the needs of most people who use trains as their main means of commuting but need to book a car to transfer to the station, Uber earlier launched a service called "Make My Train" in the United States, allowing users to more conveniently connect with their originally scheduled train rides through Uber services.
This service will cooperate with the two major railway services in the United States: the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) in New York and the California Train (Caltrain) that provides rail transportation services in the San Francisco Bay Area. Once the user sets the destination as a station, the system will automatically check the time of the nearest train arriving at the station and arrange the best travel time based on the user's expected arrival time at the station.
According to Uber, this service will allow users to transfer to stations more conveniently, which will help reduce the number of users driving to stations, thereby significantly increasing traffic flow on roads near stations. It may also reduce the need to build more parking resources, thereby achieving the goal of improving urban transportation efficiency.
Currently, this service is only available in the United States. Since other regions may not have the demand for such station commuting, there are no plans to provide this service for the time being. However, Uber expects to continue to increase its profit development opportunities through different operating models.
