Following the announcement in July this year,400 layoffsLater, Uber announced earlier that it would continue to lay off an additional 350 employees, including personnel from the Uber Eats team and the advanced technology department that promotes autonomous driving technology.
Previously, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi explained in an email to internal employees that the internal team was too large, resulting in some overlap in work and unclear decision-making. Therefore, he decided to streamline the number of members in the management team, expecting to adjust the overlap in work and reduce costs.
The cuts are also based on streamlining the organizational structure and ensuring that human resources are allocated to produce the best performance. The affected departments include advanced technology, Uber EATS, platform operations, and human resources including global crew, performance operations, and recruitment.
According to market data, Uber currently has approximately 2 employees worldwide, and the actual number of employees affected is approximately 2263, or 350% of the total workforce. Earlier data released by Uber showed that its global workforce was 1.5 as of the end of June this year, indicating that significant staff reductions have been made since then.
After announcing another round of layoffs, Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized that this will be the last round of layoffs and that the business will continue to thrive after organizational realignment.
