Uber earlier launched its app for driver-partners in the U.S.Make an update, which will allow drivers to know in advance the estimated wages they can expect to receive for a single ride, making it easier for them to assess their willingness to accept the offer. Additionally, Uber will offer a feature called "Trip Radar" to drivers, allowing them to reference demand for rides in the surrounding area. The feature lists estimated fares and trip details, allowing drivers to understand the demand for rides nearby and decide whether to drive there to provide the ride.
Uber has long offered users a fare estimate feature, allowing them to know the cost of a ride to a specific location before actually requesting a ride, allowing them to evaluate whether to take an Uber ride or use other connecting methods. This new feature also allows partner drivers to know the estimated fare in advance, allowing them to know whether the estimated fare is commensurate with their own costs when providing a connecting service.
Since the partner driver may be coming from a distant place when accepting the shuttle service, and if the passenger's expected drop-off location is not on the same route as the original destination, it means that the partner driver must spend more money to provide this service. Therefore, letting the partner driver know the estimated fare and service distance in advance will make it easier for the partner driver to decide whether to accept the service.
The basic elements for calculating fares include the base fare, trip distance, and vehicle travel time. They also include factors such as the additional waiting time for passengers to board the vehicle and whether it is easy to call a vehicle at the time. If the passenger requests to change the drop-off location or add additional pick-ups and drop-offs along the way, the system will also calculate the estimated fee. As for the tipping mechanism that Uber later added, it will become additional income for the cooperative driver, but it depends on whether the passenger provides it extra.
However, with this adjustment, fares for some trips may be relatively reduced. For example, in the case of a transfer demand in less busy traffic, the actual fare may not be too high. However, if the partner driver drives to a location with higher transfer demand, or it takes some time to get to the pick-up location, the estimated fare will be higher, thereby attracting more partner drivers to provide services.
The "Trip Radar" launched simultaneously this time allows co-drivers to refer to the demand for nearby shuttle services and estimate fares, so that co-drivers can know the demand for nearby rides and can also use this to decide whether to drive to provide shuttle services.
At the same time, Uber announced a partnership with Mastercard, Branch, and Marqeta to launch the new Uber Pro cash card, allowing partner drivers to earn up to 7% cash back when using this cash card to pay for gas or other purchases. When using this cash card with the Upside service to pay for gas, they can save 25 cents per gallon.
As for this update, it is mainly in the United States, and Uber has not yet confirmed whether it will be available in the global market at the same time.
