Uber Eats, the food delivery service under Uber, announced today (4/30) that it will expand its fresh food delivery service in Australia. The "Smart Picking" function will allow local stores to select products more quickly and confirm alternative options with consumers more quickly when the originally planned purchase is out of stock.
The "Smart Picking" function mainly helps local stores pick goods faster. When receiving a consumer order, the app can be linked to the system to confirm the shelf location of the product in the store, allowing stores to pick goods more intuitively and quickly, and use barcode scanning to confirm the accuracy of the product.
If there is a shortage of goods, the system will automatically recommend suitable alternative options and let consumers decide whether to accept them, thereby speeding up the ordering process and improving consumer satisfaction when using the service.
In addition to providing the "smart picking" function in the Australian market, the Uber Eats service will also bring this function to the Taiwanese market and expand to the Japanese market to provide more fresh food delivery services.
However, the option of allowing delivery staff to provide picking services is currently available in the Australian market, but it has not yet been confirmed whether it will be introduced to the Taiwanese market. Uber Eats stated that it is still in the evaluation stage, but the picking service provided by stores will definitely enter the Taiwanese market in the second half of this year, thereby speeding up the operational efficiency of fresh food delivery services.
