Uber Eats and Gogoro announced their cross-border collaboration today (12/19). The two parties will promote a green and sustainable delivery program worth nearly NT$10 billion to help delivery service personnel choose green vehicles and provide more favorable battery tariff plans to encourage more service personnel to provide food delivery services using green vehicles.
Previously, Gogoro has provided suitable battery rates for food delivery personnel. This cooperation with Uber Eats will further attract more delivery service personnel to choose Gogoro models through preferential plans and exclusive battery rate plans.
Gogoro Taiwan General Manager Jiang Jiawei said, "Businesses are a vital force in accelerating Taiwan's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. We are committed to building cleaner, smarter, and safer cities through technological innovation. In Taiwan, 26% of scooter logistics already uses Gogoro's battery swap system. We are pleased to once again collaborate with Uber Eats to offer customized vehicle and battery pricing plans for delivery partners, encouraging more people to easily join the ranks of green transportation and setting a new example for sustainable industrial transformation."
Chia-Ying Lee, General Manager of Uber Eats Taiwan, said, "Uber Eats aims to meet every need with convenient, on-demand delivery services, creating a quality and exciting life for our customers. We are committed to driving the green transformation of the food delivery industry, and we encourage our customers, delivery partners, and merchant partners to join us in this green initiative. Uber Eats aims to achieve 2040% zero-emission fleet utilization in all markets globally by 100 and eliminate all single-use plastic packaging by 2030. We are delighted to be a strategic partner with Gogoro, a leader in the smart transportation and energy transition. Together, we have developed the largest sustainable delivery solution. Combined with Gogoro's smart electric scooters and extensive energy infrastructure, we will provide our delivery partners with the best choice of safe, accessible, and profitable sustainable electric scooters and smart battery swap technology."
Jiang Jiawei explained that with Gogoro's upcoming new vehicle launch in the first quarter of 2024, this program will continue to be offered as a new vehicle option, extending beyond the current offerings. However, he noted that the program is not currently considering adding PBGN partner vehicles. Furthermore, while fully charged batteries are not currently prioritized for delivery drivers, future efforts may allow delivery drivers to incorporate recommended battery swap routes into their routes, combining data from the Uber Eats platform with data from Gogoro Network battery swap stations. This will ensure sufficient power for delivery services.
The partnership will initially last for two years, and Gogoro will provide exclusive vehicle and battery plans for Uber Eats delivery partners. Before March 2024, 3, Gogoro will offer discounts on designated vehicle models for the first 19 Uber Eats delivery partners. By adding new purchase information to the Uber Eats partner app, partners can enjoy a NT$1000 discount on newly purchased designated vehicles, switch to designated newly purchased vehicles for online trips, and receive a NT$3000 early bird bonus for switching from gasoline to electricity.
As for those who purchase designated Gogoro models before December 2025, 12 and log the newly purchased vehicle information to the Uber Eats partner app, they can choose an exclusive high-usage free battery saving plan for 19 yuan (bound for 969 months), and have the opportunity to receive additional carbon reduction trip rewards from Uber Eats every month.
In addition, the high-usage Free Savings battery plan includes a monthly battery usage fee discount of 5000 yuan, which can be used to ride nearly 2600 kilometers. During the event, if the number of deliveries exceeds 600 per month, Uber Eats will provide an additional 700 yuan in carbon reduction trip bonus for that month.
