Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi earlier accepted a podcast hosted by Redpoint Ventures investor Logan Bartlett.InterviewWhen, forTesla's upcoming self-driving taxi (Robotaxi) expressed doubts and believed that this product would have many problems.
Tesla's self-driving taxi was originally scheduled to be unveiled in early August, but the announcement was later postponed to October because Elon Musk requested adjustments to what he considered important designs and also provided extra time to prepare for the upcoming public display.
Elon Musk previously mentioned that self-driving taxis will allow car owners to "rent" their vehicles to others when they are idle, and car owners participating in this plan will be able to earn up to $3 in profits each year.
However, Dara Khosrowshahi believes that most car owners are unlikely to be willing to "rent out" their personal vehicles to others. At the same time, peak travel times may overlap with the car owners' personal use time, so it seems difficult to say whether the "rental" goal can be successfully achieved.
Furthermore, Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized that the concepts behind building a hardware product and providing a good service are completely different. He also stressed that Uber's concept of using self-driving vehicles is actually based on the service platform that it has accumulated over many years and with much capital, as well as the ecosystem it has built through cooperation with market players.
