Uber earlier announced the appointment of its first chief operating officer in six years to help boost its self-driving car business, while Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, senior vice president and head of Uber's delivery business and one of its first employees, will depart.
Uber has appointed Andrew Macdonald as its Chief Operating Officer, previously serving as Senior Vice President of Transportation and Business Operations. He is responsible for Uber's transportation business in more than 70 countries and regions around the world, including ride-sharing, taxis, microtransit, rentals, public transportation, high-occupancy vehicles, etc. He is also committed to promoting Uber's sustainable development plan, and is responsible for managing autonomous vehicles and food delivery businesses. He also leads the development of businesses including Uber Enterprise Edition and Uber Health.
Andrew Macdonald joined Uber in 2012 and became Uber's first general manager of business in the Toronto area. He helped Uber grow into the world's largest transportation service system.

Prior to joining Uber, Andrew Macdonald started his own business and worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company. As Uber's Chief Operating Officer, he stated that his new role will help him fully leverage the potential of Uber's service platform and connect with further development opportunities.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, Uber's senior vice president of delivery, has departed after nearly 13 years at the company. Gore-Coty joined Uber in 2012 as general manager of France, where he helped expand Uber's presence in Europe and expand its business into more global markets. He later served as vice president of ridesharing outside of North America and later as senior vice president of delivery.
