United States Postal ServicedisplayThe USPS will increase the proportion of all-electric vehicles to 5% of its newly ordered 50 mail delivery vehicles. Previously, the USPS had planned to primarily use traditional fuel vehicles for mail delivery, with only 10% of its vehicles being all-electric.
Since the U.S. Postal Service currently uses Grumman LLV vehicles, which total more than 10, some of which have reached the end of their service life, the U.S. Postal Service plans to spend $42 billion to replace these vehicles.
Because of the large number of vehicles used in postal operations, the U.S. Postal Service's vehicle replacement plan has also attracted the attention of many environmental protection organizations. Part of the reason is that the Grumman LLV models that have been used for many years in postal operations already have high fuel consumption. Therefore, if the U.S. Postal Service continues to use a large number of fuel vehicles, it will inevitably conflict with the U.S. government's current practice of vigorously promoting the development of electric vehicles.
However, the U.S. Postal Service stated in February this year that only 2% of its vehicles were electric vehicles. After causing a lot of protests in April this year, it now stated that the proportion of electric vehicles will increase in the next two years when purchasing vehicles. It is estimated that 10% of the vehicles used in postal services will be fully electric. It is expected that the purchasing demand will be increased after evaluating the situation.
