During CES 2025, TUV Rheinland proposed a star-rated rating system for eye comfort in laptop monitors. Brands including ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo have either joined or obtained this certification.
Previously, TUV Rheinland had already proposed a star-rated rating system for eye comfort for desktop monitors. The standard proposed this time for laptops also uses a five-star rating system to test and evaluate the laptop's performance in terms of eye comfort.
The laptop version of the "Eye Comfort" certification process mainly tests four technical aspects, including "image quality", "ambient light management", "eye protection technology", "user guide", and 15 different test items that have a significant impact on eye comfort.
This version of the certification standard also adds "Intelligent Brightness Control" and "Intelligent Color Temperature Control" as additional scoring options for testing product features, allowing for more accurate verification of product ratings. This version of the standard is also the world's first multi-dimensional evaluation system for laptop screen comfort, allowing business users with diverse functional requirements, multimedia designers demanding precise image quality, and consumers seeking a comfortable viewing experience to select the appropriate monitor based on this certification standard.
Laptop products can only be certified if they achieve a three-star rating or above in the test evaluation, which represents the necessary graphics quality and a qualified user experience. A four-star rating indicates that the product has excellent graphics quality and ambient light management functions. As for a five-star rating, it means that the product has excellent graphics quality and ambient light management functions, and can provide an excellent user experience.
