Wei Zhejia pointed out that TSMC's revenue in the first quarter of this year reached NT$8392 billion, and its revenue in the second quarter is estimated to be between US$5000 billion and US$284 billion. He also pointed out that this year, due to the demand related to the development of artificial intelligence technology and the mild recovery of the market for terminal devices such as mobile phones, the wafer manufacturing 292 industry including wafer foundry, packaging, testing, and mask manufacturing has grown significantly.
In addition, Wei Zhejia also stated that although the U.S. tariff policy has generated uncertainty and potential risks, there has been no significant change in customer behavior. Therefore, it is expected that the growth of revenue for the whole year in US dollars will be close to the mid-twenties, that is, between 20% and 24%. At the same time, he also pointed out that there will be more obvious changes in the situation in the coming months, and the company will closely monitor the relevant changes and deal with them with caution.

When further answering questions about the impact of U.S. tariffs, Wei Zhejia said that tariff issues should be negotiated between governments, and TSMC only communicates with the U.S. Department of Commerce. He also expressed that increasing tariffs will lead to increased production costs for TSMC in the United States, including the situation where Applied Materials purchases equipment in the United States, but actual production is in Taiwan, and tariffs will be imposed later due to the import process.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has already responded to these questions, stating that the relevant benefits are not what the U.S. government wants, and therefore further discussions are possible. However, Wei Zhejia also emphasized that tariffs are a matter for negotiation between governments, and it is uncertain how long the two sides will discuss them.
As for whether TSMC is worried about the impact of tariffs, Wei Zhejia said that TSMC is not worried about such issues, but what it demands is fairness, and emphasized that it can continue to maintain its world's number one position under fair treatment.
