Trump Mobile, the mobile service brand of the Trump Organization, recently launchedTrump T1 mobile phoneThe product was advertised as "Made in the USA," but was later questioned as possibly being produced by T-Mobile, an American telecom operator, using Wingtech Technology, a subsidiary of Chinese ODM Luxshare Precision, as its own brand. The company has now quietly removed all "Made in the USA" claims from its official website and replaced them with more general statements such as "designed with American values at its core."

No longer emphasizing "Made in the USA" but focusing on "American values"

The Trump T1 originally claimed on its official website that it was "Made in the USA," but now uses phrases like "Designed with American values in mind" and "Premium Performance. Proudly American," highlighting the shift from the original "Made in the USA" claim to "emotional identification." However, details such as the phone's actual supply chain and production location remain unclear.

Adjusting the relevant statements is obviously to avoid making misleading claims, which may lead to investigations by agencies such as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, or subsequent penalties.

Specifications were secretly shortened, and the release date was even delayed.

The official website originally indicated that the screen size of the "Trump T1" phone was 6.78 inches, but it has now been quietly changed to 6.25 inches. At the same time, the hardware specifications originally marked, such as 12GB of memory, have also been removed, which seems to highlight that the previously announced hardware specifications of this phone may change.

On the other hand, the original statement that the phone would be officially launched in August or September this year has now been changed to "later this year", which may mean that the actual shipping time of this phone may be delayed.

Is marketing strategy shifting to emotional appeal?

After removing the original claim of "Made in the USA", the marketing direction of the "Trump T1" mobile phone has obviously become based on the political support behind it and emotional identification with the United States. The consumer group may become mostly those who support the Trump administration and do not care about the actual hardware specifications of the mobile phone.

However, judging by the "1 Plan" single rate plan offered with the "Trump T47" phone, it can be used with existing mobile phones and offers unlimited calls, text messages, and internet access (speed will be limited after the first 20GB of traffic is used each month). It also includes telemedicine services provided by Doctegrity, allowing users to access medical and behavioral health services through third-party services, and includes roadside assistance provided by Drive America and mobile device protection plans provided by Omega Mobile Care.

Although the monthly fee is US$47.45 (approximately NT$1385.53), it not only meets the needs of most people who rely on mobile phones for Internet access and calls, but also meets the necessary medical services for daily life, as well as roadside assistance, which require insurance premiums to enjoy services within the United States. Obviously, this is a tariff plan that can attract many people.

Author's observation: The truth behind the product's emotional appeal remains to be revealed

Many in the industry and tech media believe that the Trump T1 phone lacked clear supply chain information from the outset, and the removal of its "Made in the USA" promotional claim further highlights the ongoing contradictions in the product's authenticity. However, for those who support the Trump administration, emotional identification may still be the primary driving force behind their purchase. However, for more discerning tech users, the current lack of transparency and uncertain specifications surrounding the Trump T1 phone may be a deterrent.

Therefore, whether Trump Mobile will release the core hardware specifications and manufacturing origin information of the "Trump T1" mobile phone in the future, and whether there will be more clear launch information, will become the focus of market attention. Otherwise, it may become a short-term topic and disappear later.
