In response to the US government's request for ByteDanceSplitting TikTok's U.S. operations, the new US President Trump in a public speech in Phoenix, Arizonadisplay, hoping to keep TikTok in the US market.
Trump said that he also used TikTok for promotion when he was running for the 47th President of the United States. The uploaded videos accumulated billions of views. The US government is currently demanding that ByteDance divest its TikTok business within the US, threatening to ban TikTok services in the US. ByteDance has filed a lawsuit alleging the order is unconstitutional, but the Court of Appeals has ruled that the US government's actions are not unconstitutional. Consequently, ByteDance subsequently filed an emergency motion in federal court seeking to postpone the effective date of the order to divest TikTok's US operations, but the motion was denied by federal court.
However, the U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to discuss this issue again, and is expected to debate it on January 2025, 1, and will finally make a ruling on January 10, and perhaps there will be a different result.
