DeepL, which provides translation and writing tools using artificial intelligence, will integrate its API with a new generation of large-scale natural language models. It will also launch the DeepL API for Write feature, significantly improving its translation accuracy and writing capabilities.

DeepL, the translation and writing tool, has been upgraded to include next-generation LLM translation technology and writing capabilities.

Sebastian Enderlein, Chief Technology Officer at DeepL, said: "This API upgrade, combining next-generation large-scale natural language model translation technology with advanced writing capabilities, is a significant milestone for us. It brings us one step closer to our goal of helping global businesses break down language barriers and expand into new markets. APIs are one of DeepL's most popular solutions, primarily due to their flexibility and ease of use. Many companies have adopted them as a key tool for improving the quality and efficiency of language processing, particularly in automating processes. Through the DeepL API, companies can directly integrate language tools into internal and external applications, such as email processes and e-commerce platforms, effectively addressing challenges such as language barriers, content localization, and writing clarity. At the same time, we maintain our consistent enterprise-grade security standards to ensure that sensitive data is fully protected."

Currently, companies including Deutsche Bahn, Weglot, Panasonic Connect, 24Translate, and Alza have implemented the DeepL API, leveraging its powerful language technology to improve business efficiency. Companies can now leverage DeepL's high-quality, secure translation technology directly across internal and external websites and applications, and now also offer writing assistance to further enhance content quality.

With this latest upgrade, DeepL API now offers even more enhanced features and benefits:

• DeepL's new generation of large-scale natural language model technology significantly improves translation quality and accuracy: API users can now get higher quality translations, further reducing translation and editing time. This technology is driven by DeepL's new generation of language models, designed specifically for translation, and combined with language artificial intelligence to provide more accurate and natural language processing capabilities. The blind test results of DeepL in collaboration with professional linguists show that the translation quality of the new model has been significantly improved: the accuracy of English-Japanese and English-Simplified Chinese translation has increased by 1.7 times; the accuracy of English-German translation has increased by 1.4 times. In addition, DeepL's new generation of language models far exceeds its competitors in translation quality. The blind test results in 2024 showed that DeepL Translation required far fewer edits than other tools. Google Translate required twice as many revisions, and ChatGPT-2 required up to 4 times to achieve the same quality.

• DeepL API for Write: New Writing and Editing Features: DeepL Write, purpose-built for business communication, is now officially available to API users and shares a common interface with translation, making it easier for businesses to improve writing quality and enhance business communications. DeepL Write is more than just an AI-generated tool or basic grammar correction tool; it's a true writing assistant, providing real-time AI-driven suggestions during the writing process to help refine word choice, sentence structure, style, and tone for a more fluid and professional writing experience. This feature will revolutionize the way businesses write, improving the accuracy and quality of internal communications, client communications, contract drafting, and more, making business communications more professional and efficient for businesses worldwide.

DeepL's next-generation language model supports translations in English, Japanese, German, Korean, and Simplified Chinese, with more languages to be added in the future. DeepL API for Write also supports German, English (US and UK), Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese (European and Brazilian). Furthermore, DeepL API Pro users enjoy enterprise-grade security and compliance guarantees, ensuring that all translated content is protected and not used for model training, ensuring data security and privacy.
