Honor earlier announced its α (Alpha) strategic development plan at MWC 2025, announcing that it will transform from a smartphone manufacturer to a global artificial intelligence terminal ecosystem operator.
According to Honor's new CEO Li Jian, Honor will invest US$5 billion in the next five years to build an artificial intelligence terminal device ecosystem with global partners.
The first step of the plan will be to use smartphones as the core, then expand the smart ecosystem outward and expand the construction of a world driven by artificial intelligence, while connecting "people" and "artificial intelligence devices" with content, services, chips, and systems.
Similar approaches have actually been proposed by industry players including Sony and Xiaomi. Sony mainly connects its products through audio and video content and gaming experience. In addition to launching mobile phone products, Xiaomi has continued to expand its service content and smart home products. It has now further expanded to the vehicle platform, forming a smart ecosystem of "people's cars".
But in the case of Honor, although it has been separated from Huawei and has launched many ecological products, it is still clearly far behind Xiaomi and other industry players. Therefore, Honor must invest more development funds to establish its own artificial intelligence terminal ecosystem, and will also cooperate with more market partners to expand the scale of this ecosystem.
