Bloomberg NewsReports indicate that the person responsible for the cooperation with Broadcom$610 millionTom Krause, president of Broadcom's software group, which acquired VMware, has confirmed that he will leave Broadcom and join another company providing enterprise software services starting July 7.
Tom Krause joined Broadcom in 2012 and served as CFO since 2016. He has been President of Broadcom's Software Group since 2020, overseeing the six business units within the group. He played a key role in Broadcom's recent $6 billion acquisition of VMware.
Broadcom filed a complaint with the U.S. Securities and Exchange CommissionSubmit documentsThe announcement simply stated that Tom Krause would be leaving Broadcom and joining another enterprise software services company starting July 7th, but the company's name was not disclosed. Following Krause's departure, Broadcom will eliminate the position of President of the Software Group. The announcement also did not specify whether the company would undergo organizational restructuring or undergo large-scale personnel changes after the VMware acquisition is completed.
In addition, the filing also shows that Broadcom CEO Hock Tan's position will remain unchanged, but Broadcom Chief Operating Officer Charlie Kawwas will also serve as President of the Semiconductor Solutions Division.
Since there were no competing bids from other companies for Broadcom's acquisition of VMware before July 7, and VMware did not object to the deal, the acquisition will be completed according to Broadcom's plan. It will become the third largest acquisition in the technology industry after Microsoft's $5 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard announced earlier this year and Dell's $687 billion acquisition of EMC, which still owned VMware at the time, in 2016.
