Sharp today (May 5) showcased its new Dynabook series laptops and the newly launched dynaEdge XR14 smart glasses ahead of the start of Computex 2025.
At the same time, Sharp also boasts that its predecessor, Toshiba Client Solutions, was affiliated with Toshiba. As early as 1985, it launched the world's first laptop computer, the T1100, which became the starting point of the current laptop category and also ushered in the era of mobile use of PCs. Subsequently, in 1989, it officially launched the Dynabook brand and launched the first Dynabook series laptop in the Japanese market, the J3100SS. At that time, it had a 10.4-inch screen and a body weight of 2.7 kg. It was advertised as having full keyboard input and mainstream connection port functions at the time.
1100 years after the release of the world's first laptop, the T40, Sharp announced the release of several new laptops featuring lightweight designs, thin and light appearances, and designs more suited to mobile business needs. These products also align with Microsoft's "Copilot+ PC" design, which emphasizes integrating more AI experiences into laptops.
Among them, the 950-inch top-tier business laptop Portégé Z14L-N, weighing only 40 grams, uses a Core Ultra 100H processor based on the Intel Luna Lake architecture. It is also in line with the Intel Evo Edition design and complies with the US military-standard MIL-STD-810H protection test certification. It is made of magnesium alloy, is only 1.59 cm thick, supports the screen cover to be used flat at 180 degrees, and has a battery life of more than 11 hours. It improves efficiency in multiple fields such as writing, design, and business decision-making, and makes the workflow smoother, helping users focus on their core strengths and easily cope with daily challenges.
The Portégé X40L-M also complies with the Intel Evo Edition design certification. The body thickness is also 1.59 cm, but the weight is increased to 1.05 kg. It is equipped with an Intel Arrow Lake architecture processor and complies with the MIL-STD-810H US military standard protection test.
Another 2-in-1 laptop with a flip-screen design, the Portégé X30W-M, weighs 989 grams and boasts a complete I/O port configuration. It also features an Intel Core Ultra 100H processor and a magnesium alloy frame.
The Portégé X30L-M also features a lightweight design with comprehensive I/O ports, weighing only 875 grams. To meet the needs of business use, it adds a TPM 2.0 security chip, BIOS encryption protection, and a video camera cover that can be physically blocked by a slide. It also offers the option of facial recognition or fingerprint recognition modules.
In addition, Sharp also emphasized that it has added a lot of self-developed artificial intelligence software to its Dynabook series of laptop products, including the Dynabook Assistant artificial intelligence assistant service that supports translation, article summaries, data query, and chat interaction, as well as a security detection system and intelligent energy consumption management function to ensure privacy is not leaked.
Sharp also showcased its dynaEdge XR1 smart glasses at the event, boasting that they can operate independently through an external computing device and can be used for applications such as immersive smart office and on-site work assistance, thereby addressing business meetings, education and training, warehousing and logistics, and engineering maintenance.
In conjunction with Sharp's own artificial intelligence solutions, the event also showcased Sharp's dynaConnect Meeting smart office solution, dynaSense AI automated detection system, and dynaConnect Energy smart energy solution under the Dynabook brand, emphasizing the provision of complete artificial intelligence commercial technology.
