Last year, it was spun off from Western Digital (now WD) again and replaced withNew brand identityAt CES 2026 earlier this year, Sandisk announced the launch of its new "SANDISK Optimus" brand, integrating and renaming its highly acclaimed internal SSD product line, symbolizing the return of NAND Flash to Sandisk products. Today (May 21st), Sandisk announced the introduction of the SANDISK Optimus, SANDISK Optimus GX, and SANDISK Optimus GX PRO series SSDs, along with the new SANDISK Extreme and SANDISK Extreme PRO portable SSDs, and previewed a series of upgrades to its memory card products.
As previously explained, the WD_BLACK gaming series and the mainstream WD Blue NVMe SSD series, which gamers were familiar with in the past, will be gradually integrated into the new SANDISK Optimus brand.
Sandisk stated that the rebranding aims to make the "performance tiers" more intuitive, allowing consumers to immediately see which product suits them best, and further subdividing them into three tiers:
• SANDISK Optimus (Standard Edition):
Predecessor: Corresponding to the original WD Blue series (such as WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD).
Positioning: Designed specifically for content creators and mainstream users who demand faster speeds than traditional hard drives, emphasizing a balance between performance and price to provide a smooth computing experience.
• SANDISK Optimus GX (Gaming Edition):
Predecessor: Corresponding to the original WD_BLACK mid-range series (such as WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD).
Positioning: Targeting mainstream gamers, emphasizing "gaming without boundaries," offering lightning-fast loading speeds and higher power efficiency to meet the needs of extended gaming sessions. Hard Drive
• SANDISK Optimus GX PRO (Flagship Edition):
Predecessor: Corresponding to the original WD_BLACK flagship series (such as WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD).
Positioning: This is the performance pinnacle of the Optimus family, designed for developers, professionals, and hardcore gamers seeking the ultimate experience. Sandisk specifically emphasizes that this series is suitable for building AI PCs, workstations, or high-end gaming consoles, combining state-of-the-art storage technology with massive capacity.
With the launch of its new SSD series in the Taiwan market, SanDisk has introduced the entry-level Optimus 5100 NVMe SSD, the Optimus GX 7100 NVMe SSD targeting the gaming market, and the Optimus GX PRO 8100 NVMe SSD and Optimus GX PRO 850X NVMe SSD for the ultimate professional market.
Currently, the entire SANDISK Optimus internal SSD product line is officially available for sale in Taiwan.

Everyday Portability: SANDISK Portable Solid State Drive
Designed for students, office workers, and home users, it boasts read speeds of up to 1000MB/s. While positioned as an entry-level device, its speeds easily surpass traditional external hard drives, making it ideal for everyday file backups and cross-device data management. It is expected to launch next quarter, initially offering 1TB to 2TB versions.
The world's smallest and largest storage device: Extreme Fit USB-C flash drive
SanDisk previously released what it called the "world's smallest" 1TB USB-C flash drive—SANDISK Extreme FitIt features a lightweight design and a convenient USB-C connection, allowing users to "plug and forget," making it suitable for expanding the capacity of USB-C ports on thin and light laptops or tablets.
Despite its compact size, this flash drive offers up to 1TB of capacity and read speeds of up to 400MB/s (128GB to 1TB versions), and is now officially on sale.

SanDisk also announced updates to its memory card product line, including the SANDISK Extreme PRO series, SANDISK Extreme series, and SANDISK Ultra GO series, to meet different storage needs.
