After Google and other industry players announced the launch of new artificial intelligence application services, Apple also quietly announced MLX, a high-performance machine learning framework tailored for its chip products.
Awni Jannun, a member of Apple's machine learning team, revealed that MLX is an open source framework provided to developers, which is mainly designed to cooperate with Apple's chip products and is applied to various computing needs.
Just in time for the holidays, we are releasing some new software today from Apple machine learning research.
MLX is an efficient machine learning framework specifically designed for Apple silicon (ie your laptop!)

While Apple has invested in AI applications in the past, its pace has been slower than that of competitors like Google, Microsoft, and even the more recent OpenAI. However, Apple's continued commitment to AI development demonstrates that it's not lagging behind in this field.
According to a report on The Information website, Apple has been investing a lot of money in the development of artificial intelligence technology since September last year, and has also invested a lot in the development of machine learning applications in the past. Apple has also apparently started to build aA chatbot service called Apple GPT, and operates on a large natural language model called Ajax, which may be applied to the Siri digital assistant service in the future to make it smarter.
However, with Google recently launching its large-scale natural language model "Gemini," and Microsoft and other industry players already proposing AI technology application services like Copilot, many are expected to focus on whether Apple can succeed in the various automated AI competitions.
