On the Reddit forum websiteNewsSome game developers said that their recent submissions to the Steam platform for games containing content automatically generated by artificial intelligence were rejected, and they must provide additional proof of ownership of the content copyright, otherwise their submitted games will not be approved for listing.
According to Valve's explanation, since content automatically generated by artificial intelligence still has legal issues, based on content copyright considerations, such game content will not be approved for listing on the Steam platform unless the game developer can prove the copyright legitimacy of the submitted game content.
Valve's certification does not prohibit developers from using artificial intelligence technology to create game content, but they must additionally prove the legality of the content's copyright. For example, if users can prove that the game was created with development tools such as Unity and uses its artificial intelligence technology to generate game scenes, NPC characters and other content, they can obtain Valve's approval.
However, if the developer uses self-developed artificial intelligence technology to generate content, they must additionally prove the copyright legitimacy of the content generated by their technology, or remove the artificial intelligence-generated content to avoid additional disputes in the future.
In addition to Valve, platforms such as Getty Images and the Japanese artist exchange platform Fanbox also prohibit uploading all types of content automatically generated by artificial intelligence, but this does not restrict the use of artificial intelligence technology for creation. The main consideration is the issue of content copyright identification.
