Regarding the situation where Threads accounts were previously linked to Instagram accounts, which resulted in Instagram data being deleted once the user deleted Threads, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri updated the thread earlier.displayThis issue has been corrected.
Users can delete their profiles on Threads by simply clicking "Account" in the Threads settings and selecting "Delete or Deactivate Profile." Previously, Instagram allowed users to deactivate their Threads accounts without affecting their Instagram accounts, but it still didn't offer a deletion option.
However, even though users are now allowed to delete their Threads accounts, they still need to bind their Instagram accounts when applying to use the Threads service, indicating that the Threads service is still closely connected to Instagram and even relies on Facebook to direct viewing traffic, and is currently unable to support a certain scale of usage.
However, Meta's future goal is probably to make Threads an independent service, and it hopes to make the Threads service more decentralized by supporting the open social network transmission protocol ActivityPub, so that its community interaction can transcend platform service restrictions.
Currently, the growth rate of Threads service traffic is not as significant as when it was first launched, and many users have even stopped using it. Therefore, how to make Threads service traffic grow again will become Meta's next challenge.
