To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic ARPG series Diablo, Blizzard Entertainment went all out during today's (February 12th) livestream, releasing a series of major updates for Diablo IV, Diablo II: Resurrection, and the mobile game Diablo Immortal.
The main character this time is undoubtedly the brand-new class – the "Warlock". This character, who is skilled in summoning demons and dark magic, will appear simultaneously across three games, showcasing Blizzard's ambition to create a "Diablo universe".
Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred: Warlocks Join the Fray, Horadric Cubes Return
As the latest installment in the series, Diablo IV's new expansion, Vessel of Hatred, will launch on April 28th. Following the previously announced Paladin, the official announcement today revealed the second new class: the Warlock.
• Professional characteristics:Warlocks can manipulate metal chains, fire, and destructive forces, adhering to the principle of "an eye for an eye." They are officially described as "the class that best showcases twisted power," and detailed gameplay is expected to be revealed on March 6.
• New map and story:Players will travel to the Skovos Islands to explore ancient Mediterranean ruins and temples, uncovering the secrets of Ascari and the Great Sin King.
• Major overhaul of the endgame gameplay:The "Conquest Plan" allows players to choose 5 out of 7 modes (such as Mystic Realm, Hell Tide, Nightmare Dungeon, etc.) to create their playlist, and customize monster spawns and rewards.
• Skill Tree Remastered:The entire skill tree will be revamped, adding over 40 new options and 80 customization options.
• Classic Return:The legendary Horadric Cube is officially back! It will serve as a crafting tool, allowing players to synthesize rare materials and unlock additional stats. In addition, there's the new Sigil Board system, bringing back armor sets, and the fishing system that casual players have been eagerly awaiting.
Diablo II: Hellfire Reborn: First new class in 25 years, plus a loot filter!
This is definitely the most touching moment for veteran players. 25 years after its release, Diablo II is still getting a brand new class!
• New class "Warlock":The Warlock class in Diablo II: Resurrection will be released alongside the paid update Warlock's Legion. Warlocks specialize in summoning demons (goat-headed demons, tainted demons, and blasphemers) and can link with demons to share abilities or "devour" demons for buffs.
• System modernization:Finally, the official built-in "Loot Filter," stackable storage boxes, and "Chronicle" collection system have been added.
• New challenges:New additions include "Enhanced Fear Zone" and the challenging boss battle "Great Ancestor".
Diablo Immortal: Return to Luttow, Queen Andariel Returns
The mobile version update is also included, with the Warlock class expected to be released in the summer of 2026.
• Professional characteristics:The immortal warlock wields a demon skull and a sacrificial blade. Its core mechanic is "Soul Eater," which allows it to devour other demons and absorb their properties.
• New map:The classic city of Lut Gholein will appear with a brand new look, divided into a commoner's district and a noble's district, and has been occupied by the vengeful Queen Andariel.
